The Galesburg-Augusta band program is led by Jan Edgerton. The G-A band received a number one ranking during competition in the 2006-07 school year. Band participants range from grades 6-12. Apart from yearly contests the G-A band is showcased at every home football game.

The Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association, District Eleven, chose G-A band director Jan Edgerton as the 2006-07 Band Teacher of the Year. This is the third consecutive year Edgerton has earned this distinction. Edgerton has been Director of Bands for the Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools for twenty-one years, succeeding Martin Benstein in 1985. Under her direction, the G-A Middle School Band Program has been selected as a "model program" by the WMU School of Music education department and is highly rated at MSBOA festival events. The High School Symphonic Band has been invited twice to perform as a Featured Ensemble as the Spring Conference on Wind and Percussion Music, and is also consistently highly rated at MSBOA events. Edgerton's dedication to the G-A schools and community earned her the G-A Pride Award in 2005.
